Every MAYSA coach and assistant coach must have a Coach Pass through Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) to be on the sideline with their players. Getting a coach pass is a quick and easy process online. Coach passes provide individual membership to WYSA and serve as the Risk Management process (i.e. background checks are done). Approved passes are valid for 2 years. Coaches are reminded to fulfill this requirement prior to the start of your season. To register for a coach pass or to renew one, you can register at Wisconsin Youth Soccer.
MGFC covers the cost of each coach pass card obtained and/or renewed by our coaches. Please contact the MGFC President for information to obtain the coupon code to use before applying or renewing. By using the coupon code, WYSA will bill the club directly and the coach does not have to pay out of pocket.
Every MAYSA coach should also have the level of Coach Certificate or License appropriate for the team he/she coaches. The certificates/licenses indicate a level of training. Certificates and licenses are acquired by attending a WYSA Coach clinic.
The following requirements apply to both head and assistant coaches:
Coaching courses are available before each season through WYSA. You must sign up for a class online. If you are ‘registered with WYSA’, that is, if you already have a coach pass, the courses are offered at a reduced fee.
You may apply for the coach pass AND register for a coach course at the same time by selecting the course you’d like to take, clicking on the ‘e-register’ link, and on that page going to “If you do not have a Coach Pass Number and would like to register for one and register for an e-Coaching Course, please register at Wisconsin Youth Soccer.
Per MGFC by-laws, each MGFC coach, limited to one coach per team, is entitled to 100% reimbursement, for the expense of obtaining any Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) coaching license or its equivalent, subject to the pre-approval of the MGFC BOD. MGFC will have an expectation of a one (1) year commitment from coaches following completion of the WYSA “E” Certificate, and a two (2) year commitment from coaches following completion of the WYSA “D” Certificate.
